Played Wailua on 11/01/23. The course was absolutely perfect. Right on the ocean with plenty of great ocean views. What a gem for a city course. The greens were pure the fairways were great. The layout of the course is great for all skill levels. Long enough for those who want a challenge. A definite must play for anyone in the area. The course is worth playing over most $300+ courses on the island. The price is hard to beat and worth playing a couple times. The course does get backed up because of the Price and the great conditions. So be prepared to be on Hawaiian time.
We played a round of 18 at this beautiful municipal course prior to our tournament at Poipu bay. Range balls were reasonably priced, and the course conditions were great. My one gripe was that there was a group of 6 playing ahead of us that slowed the pace of play. Also the bunkers are huge and hazards aplenty, so you really want to hit it accurately even though the fairways are reasonably wide. Great Photo op on the 17th hole with the ocean in the background.
Incredible value even as a nonresident. Tee time, club rentals, and a pull cart all came out to ~$100 for a course that was in great condition for a muni course that's better than many of the courses I've been to in the DMV. Rentals were Cleveland Launchers that were in great condition and good for my game. Course layout is pretty friendly, as there aren't too many OB areas. A few holes are along the ocean. Just make sure to bring enough water and snacks, since the restaurant is closed and I didn't see a beverage cart.
For a county operated course, it is in good shape. Greens are fast most days. Views are magnificent. The cart paths on the back nine need lots of work. Personnel are very friendly. It would be a plus if they could find a decent concessionaire to run the snack bar.
Great experience at this Muni. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Price probably has to be the best considering I’m paying $260 for the ocean course in a couple days and for two it was $68. Views, tee boxes, fairways and greens are all great! Course is really challenging with wind. Definitely would help having some course knowledge. Play the blues if you want a challenge!

This public 18-hole golf course is one of the most affordable in Kauai. It is operated and maintained by Kauai County. Therefore, for the beginners or someone who never played golf in their lives, this is the place to practice your skills. This island has just one Municipal golf course, as a result the authorities invested a fortune to make this golf course very attractive for both: local residents and tourists. Reservations are required all day long. You need to call in advance for a tee time because it fills up very fast. And, if you have already a tee time, it is important not to miss it. Beginners and slow players are requested to start after 12 noon. The price for out of state visitors on WEEKEND is $60, and for residents is only $20. Overall, in the state of Hawaii there are 78 golf courses and 8 of them are here in Kauai. Wounderful and peaceful place in front of the ocean!!!
Great course, the greens are well cared for. They start every 6 minutes so play is fast. We were pleasantly surprised to see how many holes were so close to the ocean. The view on hole 17 was incredible. We rented clubs here too which included some great hybrids. Keep in mind it's a municipal course so no alcohol is allowed.
